Bano Qudsia Books List And Biography

Bano Qudsia ( بانو قدسیہ ) was a famous spiritualist, intellectual, playwright, short story writer, novelist of Urdu and Punjabi. She was the trendsetter of warmth and vitality in short stories. Bano Qudsia got popularity for her novel Raja Gidh. She was against the intolerance and selfishness of the human towards women. She also penned television plays.

Early Life:

Bano Qudsia was born on November 28, 1928, to a landlord in Ferozepur of British India. Her father Chaudhary Badar Uz Zaman Chatta had a Bachelor degree in Agriculture, and her brother Parviaz Chatta was a painter. Her father died when she was just three and a half years old.

After the distribution of Hind, she came to Lahore with her family. Before coming to Lahore, she was studying in Dharm Shala in the eastern India of Himachal Pradesh. Her mother Mrs Chatta was also an educated woman.

Bano Qudsia married the famous novelist and Drama writer Ashfaq Ahmed. It was the time when two legends met at GC University during their learning period and knotted their everlasting relationships.

Education:

Like her husband Ashfaq Ahmed, she was a literary woman. She had an inclination towards creativeness and intellectualism. Bano graduated in Mathematics and Economics from Kinnaird College for Women. Later in 1951, she got a masters degree in Urdu literature from Government College Lahore. She has also been writing for her college magazines and other journals.

Literary Services:

Bano wrote many plays for radio and television in Urdu and Punjabi languages. Her most famous novel is Raja Gidh, which gained her immense popularity across the border. Her drama ‘Adhi Baat’ is recognised as the classic work in literature.

Awards and Recognition:

In 1983, Bano was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. In 2010, the Government of Pakistan awarded her Hilali-i-Imtiaz, while in 2012 the Kamal Fun Award was given to her. Later on, in 2016, she was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Bano Qudsia Death:

Bano Qudsia, on January 26, 2017, was admitted to the Ittefaq hospital, where he was under treatment for ten days. On Saturday 4 February 2017, at the time of 5′ O clock she passed away from this world. She was 88 years old at the time of death. Her funeral prayer offered on 5 February 2017 at E Block, Model Town, Lahore at 03:30 pm While buried in G Block Cemetery Model Town, Lahore.

She left three children behind Anees Ahmed, Aneeq Ahmed, and Aseer Ahmed. Although, she has passed away from this immortal world but, has left her presence in everyone’s heart.
